Eric P. Suan, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Retina Specialist & Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Founder of The Retina Care Center with offices in Maryland, Pennsylvania & Delaware. He provides state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatments for diseases of the retina and vitreous in multiple locations throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania. His areas of interest and expertise are medical and surgical management of Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Macular Holes and Puckers, complex Retinal Detachments, and Complications of Ocular Surgery.
Dr. Suan established the Research Department of The Retina Care Center in 2006. He has been the Principal Investigator for over 36 Phase 2, 3, and 4 clinical trials. Many of these pivotal studies have led to the FDA approval of medications used to treat wet AMD, Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusions. His current areas of research include novel treatments and gene therapy for dry AMD, more efficacious and or longer acting medications and new medication delivery systems for wet AMD and Diabetic Retinopathy.

Dr. Suan is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and speaks regularly on business topics at the annual ASRS Business of Retina meetings. He is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland and an Adjunct Clinical Professor for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Maryland Health Care Systems. He is a member of the Medical Staff of Greater Baltimore Medical Center and the Timonium Surgery Center.
